In a bid to combat cheaters, the latest measures will disable their parachutes “for fun”. Get ready to watch them fall from the sky like a sack of potatoes!

Most Call of Duty fans will be playing Modern Warfare 3 today but the CoD development team has shared an update on its RICOCHET: Anti-Cheat measures and has also introduced some “fun” new mitigation strategies for Warzone.

A blog post was published yesterday (November 9) revealing the latest anti-cheat trick called “Splat.” This new feature quickly removes verified cheaters from matches in one swift move. The name “Splat” delivers what it promises, making it an obvious and effective solution to combat cheating.

“With Splat, if a cheater is discovered, we may randomly, and for fun, disable their parachute, sending them careening into the ground after they deploy,” the blog post reads.

“While it’s fun to annoy cheaters that make it into games, our aim is to prevent them from ever getting near a match,” the post continues. “Prevention is key to the continued evolution of RICOCHET: Anti-Cheat.”

“But what if we catch them after they’ve deployed? Well, Splat can also adjust player velocity, which transforms a bunny hop into a 10,000-foot drop, taking them out instantly. This is one of many new tricks we’ve developed – and we’ll talk about more in the future.”

The blog post reassures players that the mitigation measure against cheating cannot be activated by mistake or player reports, and will only apply to verified cheaters.

The post didn’t confirm if the new measures will be in Modern Warfare 3. Cheaters in multiplayer may face existing measures like ‘Cloaking’ and ‘Damage Shield’.
